for every person, there's always the ultimate imaginary tour/collaboration/cameos on songs that they would love to see happen.

it took a little over four years, but fortunately, one of mine have finally come true. max bemis of say anything and chris conley of saves the day have joined forces to make two tongues.

the harmonization of their voices makes me think that it was just something destined to happen. the only complaint of other listeners is that its the kind of album where you just have to sit through it once to really appreciate it.

one of the best songs off the self-titled album is "i can make you do things" where they use slick guitar and overdramatic hi-hat. other songs not to miss are "tremors," "wowee zowee," and "crawl." for those of you who think you'll miss out on bemis' vocal power need to go straight to
"silly games."

music news day!

-chris brown turned himself into LAPD sunday night for assault and battery allegedly towards girlfriend rihanna. court date: march 5.

-blink 182 announced they were going to reunite at the grammy's. cue facebook statuses and screaming fans that have missed tom delonge's asshole-ness for a whole four years (because angels and airwaves wasn't enough of a disaster). i'll be exicted when the record actually drops.

-also, (sadly), blink 182, new found glory, midtown, motion city soundtrack and bayside will not be touring much to my dismay. fake tour poster here.

-hardcore/punk band verse has broken up.

-every time i die has signed to epitaph records.

-dan, envy on the coast drummer, left the band.

-silverstein, norm jean and blessthefall not only announced a tour, but they got added to bamboozle, along with the rest of everyone important in music right now.

-hatebreed will release "for the lions" may 5th.

-the gunz show will have kevin lyman on this sunday.

-bryce avary (the rocket summer) has started working on his new album.

oh and, metro station is still the worst band to ever assemble and get a record deal.

"homesick" by a day to remember was one of the most anticipated hardcore albums to come out this year. it debuted on february 3rd and in its first week, it debuted at #21 on the charts and has sold 21, 538 copies. considering they're a hardcore, non-mainstream band, that's quite good for week one.

it's the first time a day to remember has utilized variety, with both lyrics and guest vocals. one song that stands out is "if it means a lot to you."(featuring sierra kusterbeck of versaemerge). the sweet lyrics and guitar in the song gives a break from the screaming, heavy beats/low pop feel from the rest of the album.

i hear hope in “have faith in me.” the song is very light on the screaming and very focused on the catchy chorus. true, it’s one of the simpler songs on "homesick", but at least it sounds a teensy bit different. the song is cheesy in an endearing way (“i said i’d never let you go/and i never did”). its gang chorus accents rather than overtakes, and we leave “amped” (or whatever) in a completely different way.

with this being the third studio album, listeners have a huge complaint. while shuffling on their itunes, they'll want to say they're listening to "homesick" but it really turns out that it's from a previous record, most notably "for those who have heart." even fans have to to say their sound is definitely something they've heard before.

vocalist jeremy mckinnon sounds improved most of the time, but it’s hard to critique any improvements for the other musicians due to the album’s “been there” feel. never taking any steps forward has finally crippled a day to remember, and a continued fear of the unknown will surely kill them.

for 2009, they have a lot to look forward to. march 14th is the kick-off of their tour with the devil wears prada, sky eats airplane and emarosa. warped tour begins june 26th and adtr is, finally, playing the main stage. also, by may new merch designs are expected.

new york dates:
irving plaza-april 1st and 2nd
nassau coliseum-july 18th

four year strong, red jumpsuit apparatus, a skylit drive, senses fail when they were decent.

blink 182 announced a long awaited reunion. and i can't wait until everyone shuts up and just waits until the album drops. then you can be excited.

the first band to be reviewed is one that deserves to be noticed. most people will automatically call hey monday "paramore 2.0." they see cassadee pope and think hayley williams. they've seen the boy-supported band before.

only, hey monday is way more pop, more sophomoric lyrically and in the end, they're more mainstream right from the start.

while there are eleven tracks on "hold on tight," its not a mistake to say that every song could end up on the tops of every music chart. from the first track, "set off," you just want to be at whatever emo dance party they're playing at. the album's single "homecoming" keeps hitting ever beat harder from the beginning to the end. other songs to take notice of are "run, don't walk" and "arizona."

hey monday's breakout performance are made stronger by drummer elliot james just doesn't seem to quit giving it his all for close to forty minutes.

decaydance/fueled by ramen bands will always be fighting for a spot at the top and i guess it'll be left to the fans to decide.

starting yet again another blog for a class...only this time it's a music review blog for up-and-coming bands or for new albums for my old favorites.

The biggest problem in rock journalism is that often the writer's main motivation is to become friends with the band. They're not really journalists; they're people who want to be involved in rock and roll.-Chuck Klosterman
